World Week of actions for the Abolition of Meat
Brought into the world and subsequently brought to death in order to be used for food, unnecessarily...
Billions suffer this fate each year around the world.
They represent 99.99% of exploited animals.
The machines that torture and kill them reside out of sight from our daily lives.
Do we see them when we look at the small pieces on our plates or in shrink-wrapped trays?
Billions of sentient beings are killed and made invisible.
We have the power to make their miserable lives and fate visible.
We have a duty to raise awareness of the ways in which their slaughtering can be stopped.
Just as for eggs and milk, the production and consumption of animal flesh must be abolished.
Abolish the murder of animals for their flesh!
Let's redouble our efforts during the next World Week of actions for the Abolition of Meat (WWAM) from 18 to 26 May 2013!
The demand for the abolition of meat is a political claim: just like activists did for the abolition of slavery, we are addressing this demand to our fellow citizens.
Spontaneous changes in consumer behaviour are not sufficient to put an end to the butchery.
The activities which cause major harms to others do not belong to the liberty of individuals. It is up to society to abolish them by law.
Just like the Veggie Pride in Geneva (18 May 2013) and Marches for the Closing of Slaughterhouses in Paris, Toulouse, Toronto and Istanbul (15 June 2013), let's intensify our actions around the world and give them visibility by posting them here!
We must continue the fight for as long as it takes!

We'd like to remind you that the next World Week for the Abolition of Meat (WWAM) will take place between January 19 and January 27, 2013.
Many public events will mark the World Day for the Abolition of Meat celebrated on 26 January.
Preparation for this campaign is on its way, and we're hoping that, like previous years, numerous actions will be organised simultaneously throughout the world.
We are working to prepare the population to respond to a moral imperative – a minimum requirement of justice – by abolishing the practices which cause the most suffering and death: the consumption of animal flesh (particularly fish, who make up the majority of these victims).
Therefore, we call on you to participate in this new global campaign of actions!

2011 beteiligten sich viele Menschen an den WWAFs (Weltweite Wochen zur Abschaffung von Fleisch). Mit nahezu 200 öffentliche Aktionen auf der ganzen Welt wurde auf das Problem hingewiesen und die Abschaffung von Fleisch gefordert; in Belgien, Bolivien, Brasilien, Deutschland, Kanada, Kolumbien, Frankreich, Griechenland, Großbritannien, Indien, Italien, Japan, in den Niederlanden, Österreich, Peru, Schweiz, Tschechien, in der Türkei und in den Vereinigten Staaten.
Eine öffentliche Veranstaltungsreihe machte aufmerksam auf das prävalente Gebot, dass fühlende Wesen nicht unnötigerweise misshandelt oder getötet werden dürfen und wies auf die notwendige Abschaffung dieses Gemetzels hin.
Die Aktionen waren sehr unterschiedlich: Es gab Präsentationen, Debatten, Straßenaufführungen, eine öffentliche kollektive Darstellung von dutzenden Tierkadavern, Verteilen von Broschüren, Informationsstände, vegane Gerichte und Initiativen, bei denen durch gigantische "Menschenfleisch-Packungen" die kommerzialisierten Fleischpackungen imitiert wurden.

Die Forderung zur Abschaffung von Fleisch schreitet voran: Sie ist Teil des Tierrechtsaktivismus, sie wird in Veröffentlichungen thematisiert und auch die Medien sprechen darüber...
Die nächste WWAM findet vom 23.-30. Januar 2012 statt und fällt zusammen mit dem Weltweiten Tag zur Abschaffung von Fleisch am 28. Januar.
Wir werden nicht damit aufhören Events zu organisieren und für unsere Forderung zur Abschaffung von Tierhaltung, Fischen und Jagd einzustehen.
Jährlich werden mehr als tausend Milliarden Fische und 460 Milliarden Tiere getötet, mit dem Zweck gegessen zu werden (Fischzucht eingeschlossen): fühlende Lebewesen komplett unkenntlich gemacht.

Die Forderung zur Abschaffung von Fleisch ist die logische politische Folge jemandes Vepflichtung zum Vegetarismus und Veganismus. Es hängt von der Gesellschaft als Ganzes ab, Gesetze bezüglich dieses Themas zu kreieren.
Das Verhalten, das ein solches Massaker verursacht, gehört nicht zu der Freiheit eines Individuums. Wir werden auch weiterhin kundtun, dass der Konsum von tierischen Produkten nicht vertretbar ist, dass unsere Gesellschaften verstehen müssen, was sie täglich massenhaft verursachen: solche Praktiken, die gegen jeden Moral verstoßen und verheerende Folgen haben, müssen so schnell wie möglich abgeschafft werden.
Möge das 21. Jahrhundert das Infragestellen der Versklavung von Tieren herbeiführen und die Abschaffung der Erzeugnisse aus Jagd, Fischerei und Tierzucht bringen.

As you know, the past World Week for the Abolition of Meat was a success throughout the world.
The next WWAM will take place between 23 September and 30 September 2011.
The aim is to promote again and again the idea that the production and consumption of animal flesh must be abolished.
Advocating the abolition of meat is the logical extension of vegetarianism or veganism. People who are against bull-fighting do not only ask the public to boycott bull-fighting events, they ask for bull-fighting to be banned. The opponents of foie gras do not only advise people against buying it, they want force feeding to be banned. Why would the opponents of meat be the only ones to restrict themselves to giving individual advice?
From the point of view of the movement, the refusal to eat meat can be seen as a political boycott, as an expression of one’s support of abolition. In Great Britain at the end of the 18th century, during the movement for the abolition of slavery, 300,000 people boycotted sugar produced from plantations with slaves.
The movement for the abolition of meat is a political approach: its aim is to get the public opinion to adhere to the idea that meat should be banned. The objective is that human societies, one after another, decide to ban the production, sale, and consumption of meat.
The idea is to claim loud and clear that it is not only the duty of each individual to stop supporting the murderous exploitation required by the consumption of animal flesh and "by-products", but that it is also, therefore, the duty of societies as a whole to declare themselves
for the banning of farming, fishing and hunting.

Eine wirklich traurige Feststellung: Die allermeisten Tiere werden der Fleischgewinnung wegen ausgebeutet und ausgerechnet ihr Schicksal bleibt extrem unbekannt. Es ist an uns Aktivisten die Lebensumstände und das schreckliche Schicksal dieser Tiere an die Öffentlichkeit zu bringen sowie zu fordern, dass das Abschlachten ein Ende nimmt. Es ist an uns auf die moralische Verpflichtung hinzuweisen, dass die Ausbeutung der Tiere die zur Fleischgewinnung dienen gestoppt werden muss.
Die im Januar begangene Weltwoche zur Abschaffung von Fleisch war bereits erfolgreich. Sie fand statt in Nord- und Südamerika als auch in Asien und Europa.
Die nächste Weltwoche zur Abschaffung von Fleisch (WWAF) findet zwischen 21. und 28. Mai 2011 statt.
Ziel der WWAM ist es unermüdlich die Idee voranzutreiben, dass die Produktion und der Konsum von Tierfleisch abgeschafft werden muss.
Und wir werden so lange aktiv sein bis diese Forderung erfüllt ist.
Unsere Gesellschaften müssen dazu Stellung beziehen, dass es aus ethischen Gesichtspunkten ungerechtfertigt ist Fleisch zu konsumieren. Und zwar weil Fleischkonsum bedeutet, dass die grundlegendsten Interessen zahlloser empfindungsfähiger Lebewesen ignoriert werden und das obwohl es unnötig ist Fleisch zu essen.
Es geht darum laut und deutlich zu sagen, dass es nicht nur die Pflicht jedes Einzelnen ist die mörderische Ausbeutung, bedingt durch Konsum von Tierfleisch und tierlichen „Nebenprodukten“ nicht mehr zu unterstützen. Sondern es geht auch darum, dass deshalb unsere Gesellschaft als ganzes sich dafür ausspricht Tierzucht, Fischen und Jagen zu verbieten.
Wenn Ihr heute unsere gemeinsame Sache vorantreiben wollt, könnt Ihr:
1) Aktionen für die kommende WWAM planen und diese auf das Form ankündigen. Das ist essentiell für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und zudem findet Ihr hier entsprechendes Material.
2) diesen Aufruf veröffentlichen, weit streuen sowie in den Indymedias der verschiedenen Städte in Eurem Land platzieren. (Bitte informiert uns über Eure Publikationen indem Ihr uns ein Mail schickt an contact(at)meat-aboliton.org.)
3) die Medien über die Forderung nach Abschaffung von Fleisch informieren und auf die entsprechenden Aktionen hinweisen.
4) Flyers (hier, auf Englisch) und Broschüren (auch auf Englisch) drucken und verteilen.
5) uns das Logo Eurer Gruppe zuschicken (max. 150 Pixel Länge und Breite) so dass wir es auf der Teilnehmerseite veröffentlichen können.
6) Beiträge zu diesem Thema machen (so z.B. Textanalysen, Fiktionen, Gedichte, Zeichnungen, Filme, Performances, Banners etc.). Diese können eventuell auf der Webseite veröffentlicht werden.
